Slope Stabilization

Slope stabilization refers to a collection of techniques aimed at enhancing the stability of slopes that are unstable or inadequately stable. The primary goal is to increase the Factor of Safety (FoS) to a level that minimizes the risk of landslides and slope failures. Various factors contribute to slope instability, including geological conditions, rainfall, erosion, and human activities such as construction and deforestation.

Common stabilization methods include retaining walls, terracing, and vegetation planting. Retaining walls prevent soil movement, while terracing reduces runoff and erosion. Planting deep-rooted vegetation enhances soil cohesion and absorbs excess water. More advanced techniques, such as rock bolts and drainage systems, are employed in steep or highly unstable areas to provide extra support and manage water accumulation.

Selecting the appropriate stabilization technique requires an understanding of the specific site conditions and environmental factors. Effective slope stabilization protects infrastructure, reduces risks to life, and promotes sustainable land management practices.

Jute Matting/Mesh

Jute Mat/Mesh is a robust weed and erosion control geotextile made of natural jute fibres. Jute Mat/mesh acts as a mulch, providing weed suppression and moisture retention to enhance plant establishment while protecting the topsoil from erosion.

Coir Matting/Mesh

Coir blankets are a biodegradable blanket made from 100% natural coconut fibre. Coir mesh/ nets can be used in both seeded revegetation applications for grass establishment or tube stock revegetation. The coir fibre can retain moisture providing ideal germination conditions while protecting soil from erosion.

Turf Reinforcement Matts

Turf Matts are made from an open three-dimensional mesh with a high open area to hold soil and provide a medium for root reinforcement. The double twist mesh provides resistance to rupture of the geomat on steep slopes when soil is filled as well as improving the efficiency of soil anchors.
